Available: Summer Intern With Gerontology Experience

ProAging asked Chelsea Gilchrist to share her “dream job”, if your program is looking for an educated and motivated self-starter for the summer – please consider Chelsea.  You can connect with her or request her resume at [email protected].

My experience in nursing homes/assisted living facilities over the past 7+ years has inspired me with the desire to help improve the current lifestyle and programs employed. I would like to help incorporate new technologies (there are so many not being utilized!), new social settings, and more individualized companion care (especially for Alzheimer’s patients). I feel as if children are a wonderful asset of seniors’ lives and an incredible morale booster, so I am particularly interested in incorporating intergenerational care as a part of seniors’ daily lives; I believe the two can share a mutually beneficial relationship. With the upcoming “baby boomers” approaching retirement and senior care, some settings seem unprepared for this fast-paced, highly-active generation. I hope to have a hand in the movement to evolve beyond today’s current programs.

I definitely plan on pursuing graduate school, perhaps a doctorate degree as well if it will help me further achieve my goals. As a potential doctor in gerontology and intergenerational care.
