For those of you working in the DC Metro region, may have known Laurie Duncan-McWethy founder of Choices for Aging and Paperwork Solutions, a pioneer in Geriatric Care Management and Daily Money Management. Laurie retired recently to Colorado, and her husband Jack McWethy, a noted journalist, lost his life in an accident last week. I am sharing information below to help you connect with Laurie.

As many of you have heard by now, our dear friend and colleague, Laurie Duncan, lost her husband, Jack McWethy, in a skiing accident last week in Colorado. Jack and Laurie had moved to Colorado in June of last year to begin construction on their retirement home in the beauty and peace of the mountains.
In addition to a small service in Boulder, a Memorial Service for friends and family will be held on Monday, Feb 18 at 12:00 at the Unitarian Church, 4444 Arlington Blvd in Arlington, VA –corner of George Mason Dr. and Rt. 50. (There will also be a local tribute to Jack’s life organized by ABC News and the Newseum on a separate date.)
Laurie is also establishing the John F. McWethy Fellowship in Reporting at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York in memory of Jack’s life, career and contributions to journalism. Both Jack and his father were graduates of the J-school at Columbia . This permanent fellowship is intended to help best-and-brightest students interested in a journalism career attend Columbia , even if they would otherwise be unable to do so. The family and the university hope it will give generations of future journalists the opportunity to study at Columbia and have a career as meaningful and important as Jack’s.

Laurie requests that anyone wishing to memorialize Jack’s life and career with a gift do so via this Columbia University fellowship rather than in other ways.

Contributions to the McWethy Fellowship at Columbia may be made online at Columbia ‘s secure website:
Where the site says “Select a Designation” donors should select “other.” On the next page, in the “special instruction” section, donors should enter
