Fitness for Life
Our proprietary wellness program demonstrates RWC’s commitment to helping residents live longer, fuller and healthier lives. Fitness for Lifeis specifically designed for individuals 65 and older. State-of-the-art equipment and a range of exercise programs for all capabilities offer cardiovascular endurance, strength and balance training plus overall flexibility enhancement. Is it worthwhile? Well, more than 70 percent of our residents eagerly and enthusiastically participate. Neighbors in the local community asked to participate after hearing about the remarkable achievements of our residents.

RWC offers endless ways to live and be well, while enjoying yourself.

With so much to do and enjoy, you’ll have to give up a few tasks to make time, which is why RWC takes care of all indoor and outdoor maintenance, grounds care, landscaping and housekeeping.  Our concierge service, Home Solutions, can provide you with more time to enjoy the things you want to do.

And if your health needs should ever increase, assisted living services and nursing care are available within the  Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury community.

The Lakeside Grilleis “dining central” at RWC. Virtually every table has a view of Wood Duck Lake, where wildlife roam along the far shore and waterfowl (and an occasional osprey) soar above the waters or come to rest on the lake.

Every meal offers you something special. You can choose among several entrees prepared with fresh meats or seafood, and produce. RWC’s own 28-day rotating menu guarantees you’ll never be bored with the same selections. Menus changes seasonally, so you’ll find plenty of crisp, cool salads in summer and hearty stews in winter.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, or for Sunday brunch, you can enjoy more upscale dining in the Lancaster Room, where a wait staff will be on hand to serve you. You may also enjoy private dining by reservation in the Corrotoman Room, with a beautiful view of the Gazebo and Wood Duck Lake.

Should you not wish to dine in, RWC offers “to-go” service at every meal. You can also purchase coffee, cold drinks, snacks, and pastries at the Main Street Station during the day.

We moved 34 times in our married life and this is the smartest move we ever made.

...family: Webster defines family as - a group of persons who form a household under one head - a group of related things or people. That is what we found here at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury...family.

From the senior staff on down to the landscaping team; our neighbors all give us a sense of family and without a doubt a warm fuzzy feeling. Not to mention a beautiful campus. We feel peace of mind knowing we live in a secure, loving community.

We know we made the right decision and have never looked back.

RW-C has been my home for the last two and one half years. Widowhood and concern for the up-keep of my home convinced me that I needed to plan for the years to come. I moved to RW-C and have never regretted it. My lifestyle hasn't changed much. I still play in my old bridge group, volunteer at the local art gallery and spend time with my family. However, rather than preparing holiday meals for some twenty people, I am now a guest in my children's homes.

My only complaint is that there are too many activities to occupy my attention. I arranged one of my bedrooms as a studio and planned to spend my empty days at an easel. However, the days fill up quickly and I haven't done much painting. I am involved with the visiting artists program here at RW-C, scheduling a display of paintings from a different guest artist each month, for the residents to enjoy.

No matter what your interests are – playing bridge, attending plays, concerts or the opera, discussing books, sitting in on lectures of various topics, excercising, etc., there is something here for everyone.
