About Emeritus at Wayne

This is the promise that the staff at Emeritus at Wayne - and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities - has shared since 2000, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful - a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our senior living community for its active lifestyle.

The Perfect Location

Emeritus at Wayne is located in the suburban town of Wayne, New Jersey. Our community sits on a small hill overlooking a beautiful wooded area. Residents love to watch the deer and turkey flocks on the property.
The local area of Wayne is a wealth of history. The William Paterson University is right next door to our senior living community, and there are local museums and cultural events that take place nearby. A fine selection of shopping can be found at the Willowbrook Mall, which is 20 minutes. Emeritus at Wayne is easily accessible to family and visitors with the Newark International Airport only 30 miles from the community, and New York City just a 40 minute drive.

A Wonderful Selection

At Emeritus at Wayne you will be welcomed with a smile into our warm and inviting home-like atmosphere of 95 senior apartments located on beautiful wooded grounds. The studio apartments have a great layout with an alcove for a bed, as well as a sitting area. Our one-bedroom apartments are just the right fit. The spacious common areas are attractively furnished and well-utilized. The community is completely handicap accessible.

Elevators on either side of the building make for easy access by residents. Fun and games can be had in our first floor parlor with 24-hour snacks and beverages in the bistro. Town square on the second floor holds our beauty parlor, activity room, multi-purpose room, the physical therapy gym, library, computer lab, cafe and wellness center. The outdoors can be enjoyed on our beautiful patios and walking path around the community. Residents also have use of three-hole miniature golf and bocce ball court. The memory care unit has a recently remodeled kitchen and activity room.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

Our senior living community has a strong relationship with St Joseph's Hospital, which is a half mile away in the city of Wayne. We also have partnerships with Chilton Hospital, Christian Health Care Center, and other area hospitals. We maintain close relationships with a variety of rehabilitation centers, such as Arbor Glen, Preakness Health Care, and Oakland Care Center to name a few. A number of specialists visit our community on a regular basis to provide hospice services, podiatry, laboratory and X-ray and wound care.

Our Staff

At Emeritus at Wayne, we believe our home-like and caring environment is directly related to the care, concern, focus on customer service, and friendliness of our staff. We recruit and hire employees who have a calling to work with older adults, and that dedication is reflected in our staff and leadership’s impressive longevity at the community. In 2010, Emeritus at Wayne was honored with an Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) "Best of the Best" award.
