Everyone can benefit from information about glaucoma. Groups at highest risk include everyone over 60, people with a family history of glaucoma and African-Americans over 40. However, the families, friends, co-workers and caregivers of people at higher risk for glaucoma can also benefit from a program entitled Glaucoma: The Sneaky Thief of Sight – Update 2012.

On Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 2-3:30 p.m., the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington® (POB) will host this educational event at Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Medical Building, 5215 Loughboro Road, NW, Washington DC.

Guest experts Michael E. Summerfield, M.D., ophthalmologist and Alexis Malkin, O.D., vision rehabilitation specialist, will present a current research update on the causes, complications and treatments for individuals with glaucoma and for glaucoma “suspects.” This lecture is part of the Macular Degeneration Network meeting in cooperation with Sibley Senior Association.

The program is free as well as garage parking and refreshments. For more information, please call (202) 234-1010 or visit
