As a three-year-old in the early 1940s, Nikolaus Kampen was driven from his home in the Ukraine. Fleeing Communist rule, he and his family joined the Great Trek to Germany months before it fell to the Allies. His personal odyssey took him to Paraguay and Canada before he finally found a permanent home in Lancaster County. Local author Edgar Stoesz will share his recent biography of Kampen, titled “Searching for a Homeland.” Free. Books available for purchase.
