Vinson Hall Retirement Community announces newly formed Alzheimer’s Support Group.

Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disorder that affects memory, behavior, and the normal thought process, and is a very real concern for anyone getting older. To meet  the growing need to support those who loved ones struggle with memory loss, or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, The Sylvestery, the memory support assisted living residence at Vinson Hall Retirement Community, is forming an Alzheimer’s Support Group.  The Support Group is open to the community, and will meet monthly at The Sylvestery on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13th from 5:30-6:30 pm. The Support Group is FREE and no registration is required. The Sylvestery’s address is 1728 Kirby Road, McLean, VA 22101.

An Alzheimer’s support group is great for family and friends who want to learn how to handle different stages of Alzheimer’s disease from health care professionals.  Participants will have the opportunity to share strategies on how to deal with their daily activities.  While the disease only affects individual’ brain, the loved ones are the people who have to witness the course of the disease. For them, it is especially important that they find others who are going through the same experience and have the opportunity to receive current information and ask questions. To this cause, Vinson Hall Retirement Community is pleased to offer this free resource and forum.

Vinson Hall Retirement Community is a well respected Continuing Care Retirement Community located in McLean, VA. It was established in1969 by the Naval Officers Wives Club of Washington and provides apartments for independent seniors who are commissioned officers and their immediate family. Neither Arleigh Burke Pavilion Assisted Living and Nursing Care residence, nor The Sylvestery Memory Support Assisted Living residence requires military affiliation.
