Senior Living: The 23rd Annual Ms. Senior Virginia Pageant
Move over Miss Virginia and Miss U.S.A, there are a group of women proving that personality, beauty and talent are lifelong attributes. On June 23rd at Oakton High School of Fairfax County, Brenda J. Brokaw of Alexandria, VA was crowned the 23rd Annual Ms. Virginia Senior America for 2007. Along with this title, she received the Talent Award for her aria “Musetta’s Waltz” from La Boheme.
Brenda will now receive an all expense paid trip co-sponsored by MVSA Cameo Club and Sunrise Senior Living to compete in the Ms. Senior America Pageant. This national pageant will be held in Las Vegas November 5th through 11th. Among other various events, she will be the guest performer for the MVSA Cameo Jewels upcoming performances in Northern Virginia and throughout the state.
The pageant’s participants showed off their unique and extraordinary talents. Receiving the award for being the eldest contestant, Francisca Cordova of Brighton Gardens in Arlington, was also the first Sunrise resident to participate in the MVSA pageant. This congeniality award winner showed the audience how to assemble different flowers into a decoration perfect for any occasion.
Wendy Pinhey of Annandale was named First Runner-Up while Mary Sunbeam of Arlington was Second Runner-Up. Other participants included Barbara Pressley of Fairfax and Diane O’Dell Yopp of Christiansburg.
Ms. Senior America is a non-profit organization that prides itself on enhancing and empowering women who have reached the ‘Age of Elegance’ 60 years and better.
