The benefits of “walkable” communities
I think the catalyst for most of the residents to make the move to a senior living community was losing their ability to drive.
It made me realize that if I lived somewhere where I didnt need to drive, then losing that ability wouldnt effect my lifestyle one bit! (Proximity in the 8 P’s)
I recently stumbled on a great website, Walk Score that enables you to determine how “walkable” any address or neighborhood is. How did your current home do? Mine is definately “car dependent”, which is something I hope to change in the future.
After going through this experience it has opened my eyes to how isolating a car dependent neighborhood can be no matter what your age and ability.
