In the article ‘Village’ groups, home alterations help more elderly people keep the homes they love, writer  Susan Straight profiles several of the innovative villages in the Washington, DC metro region along with the concept of Universal Design.

The article profiles, Bill Cousins a member of a village in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  Cousins also made some modifications to his home to accomodate his wheelchair which provided in with an alternative to moving to a senior living community.
