Virginia man starts a therapeutic drumming class for senior citizens

Like may others, Alan Yellowitz has had to put doing what he loves most on the backburner in order to bring home a steady paycheck. Now, in the most difficult of economic conditions, Yellowitz is getting the chance to not only do what he loves, but get paid for it as well.

Yellowitz, a Fairfax resident, started his own company, The Beat Goes On, an interactive musical therapy class that serves senior citizens across the Washington, D.C. area. The class, he said, allows senior citizens to be physically active and socially engaged by partaking in one of Yellowitz’s greatest passions: playing the drums.
