Keeping Seniors Safe: Working Together To End Elder Abuse
Greenspring Village, Springfield, Virginia – September 27, 2007
On Thursday, September 27, 2007, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (GCM) will hold a first of its kind, multidisciplinary educational conference at Greenspring Village in Springfield, Virginia – in partnership with the Virginia and Maryland/DC Chapters of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and the Elderlaw Committee of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia. “KEEPING SENIORS SAFE: WORKING TOGETHER TO END ELDER ABUSE” will feature prominent speakers and panelists in the field of elder abuse prevention. The serious problems of elder abuse, including financial exploitation of elders as well as professional risk management will be explored in this conference. Only recently has there been study and development of collaborative approaches among professionals to better detect, intervene and protect victims.
Experts from medical, legal and law enforcement communities will discuss the collaborative model, addressing critical medical and legal issues, and provide intervention approaches. We anticipate an audience of over 250 professionals – from many disciplines in the private and public sectors as well as business people who provide goods and services to older adults in the community, hospitals and long term care facilities. This meeting offers a rare opportunity to connect with professional geriatric care managers, elder law attorneys, financial advisors and others who serve seniors and their families. We invite you to be a conference sponsor for this event.
The day’s conference is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will include a continental breakfast and lunch. Due to space restrictions, sponsorship opportunities are limited, so make your reservations early to ensure space. (See reverse side for exhibitor & sponsorship opportunities.)
