Selling Real Estate with Universal Design Improvements a Challenge
The recent Washington Post article Handicap-accessible housing market is still a work in progress details the challenge that many face selling a home with handicapped and accessible improvements. The current MLS system that Realtors use does not to an adequate job of indexing these improvements so that potential buyers and review their options.
Holly Smith an adult child selling the improved home of her father articulates the challenge in the article. She says, many people need “a home with features like these, to save the expense and the waste of having these features removed if the new owners aren’t handicapped.”
