People on the Move – Status Solutions and AFrame Digital Announce Strategic Partnership
Charlottesville, Va., November 1, 2010 — Status Solutions, provider of the Situational Awareness and Response Assistant (SARA), announces a partnership with AFrame Digital, provider of a leading wireless health and safety monitoring system.
The AFrame system includes a functional, discrete wristwatch monitor that works with wireless networks to automatically record and securely transmit the user’s heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation (O2 Sat), weight, glucose, location, and activity patterns. Multiple individuals may simultaneously be monitored in a home or long term care facility. The system also enhances senior safety and security by maintaining a silent vigil to detect impacts due to a fall, changes in room temperature, and similar important safety factors. All data is trended to create personal baselines, with exceptions generating an immediate mobile alert to remote caregivers, family members, or fellow seniors in a community support arrangement. The transfer and delivery of all information is secure, private, and HIPAA compliant. The AFrame system is FDA cleared.
Additionally, if a user does fall, the wrist monitor’s built-in alert feature sends out a distress call. There are no buttons to push or alarms to activate. “Our goal is to facilitate proactive and timely care for the elderly where and when they need it to support their long-term wellbeing,” said Dr. Amy Papadopoulos, AFrame Digital’s Senior Research Scientist.
Leveraging the companies’ new partnership, Status Solutions will market and sell AFrame’s advanced mobile health and safety monitoring system, and has integrated AFrame’s wrist monitor with SARA. Alerts can be sent from the AFrame system to SARA and then delivered to almost any communication device to increase mobility and the level of care provided to residents in long term care facilities.
This solution can also be extended to seniors living in their homes; enabling concerned family members to be sent alerts and updates via SARA. There will be also be a level of integration from SARA to AFrame’s CareStation, which serves as an inference engine, that after gathering various sensor data can infer what changes in activity, temperature, sleep, toileting, eating, etc. may mean to someone’s health status.
“We spent a lot of time researching and analyzing various health monitoring technologies before choosing a partner. We feel that AFrame’s solution is the best fit for our healthcare customers and the integration capabilities with our current and future situational awareness offerings brings a unique overall solution to the marketplace. We are in the business of helping people, and we feel that this solution will continue to allow us to do just that,” states Mike MacLeod, Status Solutions Co-Founder.
“Status Solutions’ reputation in senior housing markets has been earned through years of supporting their clients with top quality solutions and service. We are pleased to work with Mike and his team to bring the very latest and most forward-thinking mobile health monitoring solutions to their senior housing and healthcare customers,” said Bruce Wilson, AFrame’s Chief Operating Officer.
Status Solutions and AFrame Digital will be exhibiting together at next week’s American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) annual conference in Los Angeles, CA. You can visit them on the tradeshow floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center in booth 939.
