With more than 5 million people in America living with Alzheimer’s disease, there has never been a better time to take action and make a difference. On May 15th in an effort to support the Alzheimer’s Association in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, Joshua Elder, with the support of LifeMatters In-Home Care and Assistance, will embark on a 2400 mile bike ride to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

As a provider of in-home personal care and assistance, LifeMatters knows all to well the astounding statistics of Alzheimer’s disease and the devastating impact the disease has on the individual and the individual’s family. LifeMatters was impressed by Josh’s enthusiasm and dedication to his cause and signed up to help Josh surpass his fund raising target of $80,000. Josh’s ride is for a great cause but is also an emotional and physically challenging event. Josh has felt the pain of Alzheimer’s disease first-hand, watching his grandfather battle the disease. Josh is a recent University of Pittsburgh graduate and current National Institute of Health Intramural Research Training Award research fellow. Josh will bike the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route May through July 2007, prior to attending medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Josh wanted to do something amazing to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s. Josh starts his ride in Antelope Wells, New Mexico and will finish in Roosville, Montana. His goal is to do something to help others who have been impacted by the disease by providing valuable donations to the Alzheimer’s Association to support Alzheimer’s research.
