People on the Move – Graceful Care
RESTON–April 20, 2006. The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving honored Denise Martin, of Centreville VA, a caregiver with Reston-based GraceFul Care. Denise was nominated for the National Caring and Competent Caregiver Award, which recognizes exemplary professional caregivers across the nation who, through service to others, demonstrate uncommon levels of competence and care to those in need and their family caregivers. The final award will be presented at the Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta on June 13, 2006.
“Denise receives accolades from the families of her clients for her knowledge and for showing great empathy and concern for her clients while fostering their growth and independence,” says Pat Williams, President of GraceFul Care.
One client daughter wrote that “Denise understands mom’s need for socialization and takes her out every day in order for her to interact with people.” She said that Denise learns about the likes and dislikes of her mother and plans each day to give her the best possible day.
Director Keeler Anderson praised Denise’s work with elderly people. “It’s so nice to have someone who really understands that taking care of somebody is so much more than just being there.”
GraceFul Care founder Williams adds, “Denise gives her clients a sense of importance and accomplishment. I’m thrilled that former First Lady Rosalynn Carter has recognized one of our outstanding caregivers.”
