People on the Move – District of Columbia Health Care Association (DCHCA)
A recent change in the leadership of the District of Columbia Health Care Association (DCHCA)
DCHCA is a voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to representing, protecting and advancing the interests of our member facilities, their employees and the District of Columbia residents they serve. We represent every nursing facility in the District and many CRF’s and Assisted Living facilities. Gail Jernigan, Administrator of the Washington Nursing Facility has served as the president of this Association for over 10 years. In this leadership role, Gail has represented the association and has advocated on behalf of the District’s elderly and disable population through legislative and regulatory process, the promotion o long term care at a regional and national level, and through the encouragement of education and training for long term care professionals.
In January, I was elected by the members to carry on what Gail has started as President of the Association. I believe this significant transition may warrant publication and hopefully identify the passion that exists within DC to genuinely care for the residents of our long term facilities. We are looking to grow the membership and find professionals within the city that would like to be part of this dynamic group as we move forward doing the work that must be done.
If you have questions, or would like more detailed information about DCHCA or the current officers, kindly contact Veronica Damesyn-Sharpe, Executive Director via email or phone at 410-798-4925.
