People on the Move – Brenda J. Brokaw crowned the 23nd Annual Ms. Virginia Senior America

Brenda J. Brokaw of Alexandria, VA was crowned the 23nd Annual Ms. Virginia Senior America at 2007 at Oakton High School, Oakton, VA., on Saturday, June 23. Ms. Brokaw also received the Talent Award for her aria “Musetta’s Waltz” from La Boheme.

An all expense paid trip co-sponsored by the MVSA Cameo Club and Sunrise Senior Living will be awarded to Ms. Brokaw to compete in the Ms. Senior America Pageant to be held in Las Vegas November 5-11. She will be the guest performer for the MVSA Cameo Jewels upcoming performances in Northern Virginia and around the state.

Francisca Cordova of Brighton Gardens in Arlington, is the first Sunrise Senior Living Community resident to participate in the MVSA pageant. Ms. Cordova received an award for being the eldest contestant; she was 84 years young on July 4. A member of the flower arranging club, Ms. Cordova presented for her talent a simple way to assemble ferns, bells of Ireland and yellow and red daisies into a lovely floral grouping for any occasion. She cited in her philosophy “You’ll be amazed at what you can overcome!” The audience was enamored with her participation.
