People on the Move – Augsburg Village Residents Send Christmas Boxes to Port of Baltimore Seafarers
Augsburg Lutheran Village (independent living) residents are collecting items for Christmas boxes to give to seafarers from all over the world who have stopped in the port of Baltimore. This is the third consecutive year the Village residents have contributed to the seafarers in this way.
Christmas box items include basic hygiene items such as toothbrushes, shaving cream, soap and chapstick. Clothing items can include gloves and a scarf. Pens, writing pads, note cards, and disposable cameras are also given. A new testament is always included in each box.
Augsburg residents collect the boxes and transport them to the Baltimore International Seafares’ Center on Wallace street. Many of the seafarers have come back months later and expressed their gratitude for the gifts. Augsburg residents sincerely care about others and give back to the community where they can.
