People on the Move – Abilities Network Wins $30K Grant
The David and Barbara B. Hirschhorn Foundation Awards Abilities Network a $30,000 Grant for Low-Income Seniors
Abilities Network is pleased to announce that it has received a $30,000 2 year grant from The David and Barbara B. Hirschhorn Foundation, Inc. for its Move Management Program. The grant will be used to provide one-on-one support to low-income seniors in the Baltimore-Metro area to help them navigate through the complicated process of relocation and downsizing to subsidized housing.
Abilities Network’s Move Management Services provides personalized relocation services to support a person’s transition into a new home by planning, de-cluttering, coordinating and re-settling them into their new space. Lee Kingham, Executive Director of Abilities Network is quoted as saying, “We started Move Management Services in early 2011 with the intent to help seniors and other vulnerable populations work through the complicated process of downsizing. We are thankful that The David and Barbara B. Hirschhorn Foundation are giving us the resources to allow low-income seniors to access this service, and we are grateful for their generosity”
Abilities Network’s mission is to challenge the community to acknowledge the value and equality of people of all abilities. To promote more inclusive communities, these services are provided through six main programs: Autism Services, Community and Employment Partners, Epilepsy Services, Healthy Families, Project ACT (All Children Together), and Senior Services.
