Gary Hughes of CensusUp

Gary Hughes has over 15 years of experience working with aging services organizations and vulnerable populations. Throughout his career he has worked with the poor and refugees but is quick to say that when he began working with older adults he knew his head, his heart and his feet were in the right place. He has held several strategic roles in aging services organizations ranging from generating revenue to increasing competitive advantage. Colleagues say he’s a great listener and knows what questions to ask. Through his work with older adults he was inspired to enter the program of advanced study for management of aging services at UMBC Erickson School, where he completed a Master’s degree.  He is also a licensed Assisted Living Facility Administrator in the state of Virginia.

Gary is known as an innovative and collaborative planner who initiates and develops programs and processes that streamline efficiencies and maximize outcomes. This focus fits squarely within the mission of CensusUp where Gary is a senior consultant and holds the role of  Executive Vice President leading the company’s efforts to support the senior housing and long term care industry and their investors.

CensusUp is a consulting services organization that supports the senior housing industry.  The company is made up of a strong, credentialed team with over 50 years of combined experience and a keen understanding of the needs and operations of senior living communities.

CensusUp partners came together because demand trends illustrate that quality senior living and care is going to be a basic necessity in the coming years and current supply won’t meet the demands of savvy seniors and their families. Potential residents will make their choices based on whether they see opportunities to find meaning and purpose.  With that in mind, CensusUp services focus on the balance between providing programs that improve the quality of life of residents while  improving operational efficiencies, census, compliance with regulatory standards, energy efficiency, and  developing an overall competitive advantage. CensusUp also services the institutional investment community by performing due diligence on potential investment properties to identify operational risks so an investor can gain an accurate gauge of the future performance of the investment.
