Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Providing a Free Hip or Knee Surgery to Anyone in DC, MD, VA without Health Insurance
On November 20, 2010, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is going to host a FREE surgical event!
Operation Walk is a private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical service organization which provides FREE surgical treatment for patients in developing countries. A surgical team composed of surgeons, internists, anesthesiologists & nurse anesthetists, nurses, therapists and surgical technicians will all donate their time to provide a FREE knee or hip replacement surgery to a person that does not have health insurance.
The goal is to provide SEVEN free surgeries for patients who have disabling arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions. Persons interested must meet the following criteria:
• Be a United States citizen, or have a Green Card,
• Be able to meet a positive general health examination (no other ailments except the knee or hip),
• Have NO health insurance,
• Be willing to have surgery at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital on November 20th and accept the free education, free medical equipment and rehabilitation services from an award winning surgeon.
Gerard A. Engh M.D., better known as Dr. Jerry, comes from a long line of surgeons. After serving in the United States Army as a medical officer, he joined his father and brother in practice at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Arlington, Virginia in 1973. Dr Jerry’s proudest accomplishments relate to his extensive research with knee replacement surgery through the Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute and the enjoyment he has gained by training fellows for over 25 years. In 2006, Dr Jerry started Operation Walk Virginia.
