Family & Nursing Care’s Founder, Sandy Kursban, was recently recognized as a true example of someone who expands the world of possibilities for aging. The ‘Celebrate Age’ honor was presented to Ms. Kursban by LeadingAge, an association of 5,600 nonprofit organizations that advance policies, promote practices and conduct research that supports, enables and empowers people to live fully as they age, at their national conference on October 18. 2011.

“It was inspiring to feature 50 remarkable seniors as we celebrated our 50th anniversary,” said Larry Minnix, LeadingAge president & CEO. “Sandy Kursban embodies what we are about: inspire, serve and advocate.”

“My mother Sandy has had a lifelong commitment to the well-being of the aging population, and her life’s work in founding Family & Nursing Care in 1968 and the Family & Nursing Care Foundation in 2008 has transformed the way people age,” said Neal Kursban, President of Family & Nursing Care. “We are so pleased that she is being recognized for her important work in enhancing the quality of life for older adults.  I am so proud of her.”

About the Family & Nursing Care Foundation

Established in 2008, the Family & Nursing Care Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation for Montgomery County, will help people who cannot always help themselves, working to address two vital needs in the community. The Foundation’s primary goals are to help support community organizations that provide low-income seniors with the dedicated home care they need to remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes and to help support homecare training programs for those individuals who want to learn the skills needed to become nurses and nursing assistants so that they may care for our elderly population.
