Mildred and Vincent Oliver, residents of Seabury at Friendship Terrace Retirement Community in northwest Washington, DC, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past Sunday, October 14th!

Mildred and Vincent Oliver were married in November of 1942.  Vincent met Mildred when he was teaching Weather Forecasting at the University of Chicago and she was a student.  Said Vincent, “She had an Emilia Earhart Scholarship.  At that time she was getting more money to attend the class than I was getting to teach it.”

The Olivers first lived in Chicago, and then Alaska before coming to Washington, D.C.

The 70th anniversary celebration was held at Friendship Terrace, attended by many of the Oliver’s extended family of 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren,… but Oliver adds with a smile, “That last number keeps changing.”

The Olivers have been residents of Seabury at Friendship Terrace since 2005.
