Candidates Forum to Focus on Senior Issues for Montgomery County, MD
POTOMAC, MD — “Will Senior Voices Be Heard?” is the focus for a candidates’ forum to be held Thurs., Oct. 5, 8:45 — 10:30 am at Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton, MD. The event is being sponsored by Grass Roots Organization for the Well-being of Seniors (GROWS).
Candidates running for Governor of Maryland, Montgomery County Executive and Montgomery County Council are invited to participate and present their perspective on the greatest challenge facing the growing number of seniors in Montgomery County. Candidates will be asked to share their vision for strengthening and supporting services for seniors, especially the frail elderly. In addition, candidates will have an opportunity to outline how they would support and implement the ongoing county strategic plan for seniors. Laura Feldman, with the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, will serve as moderator.
Prior to the forum, a networking session with refreshments will begin at 8:15 am. The event is being offered at no charge and is open to seniors, caregivers, baby boomers, organizations working with seniors, and all concerned county residents. Groups are welcome and encouraged to attend.
