Being young in nursing home gets old fast
EDMONTON – Randy Pawl wheeled into his first nursing home at 23, his mind sharpened from college courses in political science but his body wracked by cerebral palsy.
He was a young man, girl-crazy and full of life, surrounded by 85-year-olds nearing the ends of theirs.
“It was tough,” Pawl says. “I wanted to listen to AC/DC and they wanted to listen to Lawrence Welk.”
