Applications for Spring 2012 Graduate Study in Senior Housing Administration Now Being Accepted

Applications for graduate study for the Spring 2012 semester are being accepted by the George Mason University Program in Senior Housing Administration.  The program has been nationally and internationally recognized for offering the first and only university curricula dedicated to training executives for careers in the nation’s rapidly growing senior housing industry.  The core course for the Program, HAP 650: Senior Housing Management & Operations, is offered during the Spring semester each year.

The program provides the operational, marketing, resident care, and hospitality management skills required for administration of the nation’s 50,000+ Active Adult, Independent Living, Assisted Living, Alzheimer’s Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities.  The industry is expected to more than double in size as the U.S. and worldwide population ages.

Applicants for graduate study may pursue any of the following options:

  1. Master of Science degree in Senior Housing Administration (39-42 credit hours)
  2. Graduate Certificate in Senior Housing Administration (15-18 credit hours)
  3. Non-degree Graduate Study in Senior Housing Administration (up to 9 credit hours)

The Program welcomes applicants with a previous Bachelor’s degree.   Previous senior housing, healthcare, or professional experience is helpful, but not required.  Graduate courses at George Mason are designed for working professionals, with most courses one evening per week or every other Saturday.  Some coursework may additionally be available online.  Employers may offer tuition assistance for graduate study.  The Program represents a one-of-a-kind opportunity for individuals seeking to either enter into or advance within the senior housing field.
