Volunteer Coordinator

Iona Senior Services is a not-for-profit organization now celebrating its 34th year of operation. Iona supports people as they experience the challenges and opportunities of aging. We educate, advocate and provide community-based programs and services to help people age well and live well. Iona’s family of services include: Adult Day Health Wellness and Arts, Care Management, Consultation and Counseling, Community Programs and Advocacy. We are located in Washington, DC, just minutes from the AU/Tenleytown Metro.
We are seeking an energetic Volunteer Coordinator to add to our dynamic team! The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day oversight and operation of Iona’s volunteer program. To apply, please send your resume and letter of interest to personnel@iona.org.
The Volunteer Coordinator will have the following primary responsibilities:
• Recruitment and screening of new volunteers
• Development and implementation of volunteer training curriculum
• Placement of volunteers in various volunteer positions
• Development of new volunteer opportunities within Iona
• Ongoing supervision and evaluation of all volunteers working with Iona programs
• Advocacy for the development of meaningful volunteer opportunities for older adults throughout the DC area

The Volunteer Coordinator shares responsibility with all staff for assisting clients as needed; promoting community awareness of Iona Senior Services and other community resources; and participating in planning, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and other agency-wide efforts which support the whole organization. REQUIREMENTS:
• 1-3 years of related professional experience
• Experience developing, operating and sustaining professional volunteer programs
• Skill in working with diverse population as both constituents and volunteers
• Experience with program planning and management
• Creativity, organizational and community skills necessary
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Promotes Iona Senior Services inside and outside the organization. Participates in those activities and events which support the volunteer corps and the financial well-being of the organization
