How you will serve our residents and our community:


    • Consistently and genuinely demonstrate the STARS principles of Service, Teamwork, Action, Reputation and Success in all activities and interactions.

    • Determines resident programming preferences, talents and needs through new resident orientation, informal feedback sessions, resident council meetings, discussions with family members, and on-going dialogue.

    • Designs and implements vibrant cultural, physical, intellectual, educational, spiritual, social,
      service/volunteering and special interest activities based on resident input.

    • Tracks resident activity participation and adjust calendar events accordingly.

    • Engages residents, staff, families and the external community in activities and volunteer opportunities.

    • Aligns with external organizations, family members, and educational institutions to establish synergistic partnerships for the delivery of quality programs and volunteerism.

    • Establishes an active volunteer program that a) promotes resident philanthropic involvement and b) recruits and supervises volunteers to assist in the delivery and creation of diverse programs.

    • Stays abreast active aging and generational trends in order to enhance the community programming department; shares relevant information for the professional development of the community staff.

    • Recruits and selects associates (where applicable) following BVSL hiring standards and tools; forwards final candidates to Executive Director for final approval.

    • Coordinates and supervises Program Assistant(s) and Driver(s) schedules and duties.

    • Transports and/or accompanies Residents to and from outside activities and appointments in community
      vehicle(s).

    • Coordinate vehicle maintenance with the Maintenance Director.

    • Develops community communications, such as a monthly newsletter and activity calendar, to residents, families and to the Marketing Department.

    • Manages monthly budget for activity supplies, entertainment, food, etc., and staffing as appropriate.

    • Assists Executive Director in preparation and execution of annual budget.

    • Works with other Department Heads in planning and conducting orientation and in-service training.


    • Effectively administers and participates in Brightview’s “Manager on Duty” program.

    • Participates in and attends all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.


  • Other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities:

Leads and coaches Program Assistants and Drivers (where applicable). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with BVSL policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


With our residents in mind, the right candidate will have:




    • High School diploma or GED, 4 year degree preferred.

    • Previous experience in planning and delivering programs, preferably for older adults.


    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the use of Internet resources.

    • Driving record in good standing and willingness to drive community vehicle(s) to transport residents.

    • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

    • Strong customer orientation to older adults.

    • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to connect and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

    • Strong written communication skills including proper grammar.

    • Positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy.


  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
