The Mary Marshall House is a new 52-unit assisted living facility in Arlington, VA for low-income seniors with physical and/or mental disabilities needing assistance with activities of daily living.  Our first residents move in November 8th.

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse is it to utilize the nursing process in planning and providing direct care to residents as assigned.  The nurse will plan, direct and carry out shift routines in assigned nursing unit.


 


Job duties include:



  • Makes rounds to residents to observe their physical and psychosocial status

  • Assigns personnel appropriately to meet resident needs

  • Treats and ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignity

  • Observes, records, and reports to supervisor regarding residents’ conditions, reaction to drugs and treatments and significant events

  • Participates in resident care planning as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments per physician’s orders

  • Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, administration of medications and treatments

  • Makes physician calls to report resident changes in condition and documents

  • Keeps families updated on resident condition and documents

  • Comply with acute emergency protocols and tasks involved

  • Maintains all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner according to policies and procedures of the facility, including documentation of medications, treatments, restraints, psychotropic medications and skin condition

  • Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident response

  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, provides input into shift staffing requirements, and makes recommendations to the supervisor concerning employee counseling

  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with inter-departmental personnel.


 


Requirements



  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

  • Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies.

  • Ability to prioritize duties.

  • Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.

  • Ability to understand residents’ charts, doctor’s orders, residents’ plan of care, and medication orders.

  • Must posses the ability to effectively gather clinical data in regards to resident status and condition.

  • Possesses adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the physical demands of such resident care responsibilities as administering medications and performing treatments.

  • Mental Health experience.

  • CPR certified.
