The Baltimore City Health Department’s Office of Aging & CARE Services, presents a 13-month workshop series entitled Waxter Wisdom.
Waxter Wisdom is a free workshop series geared toward the older adult population, the disabled and our professionals. The free, full-day, workshop series will take place every month at the Waxter Senior Center.
Waxter Wisdom gives you the opportunity to be your own advocate. By learning the most up-to-date information regarding medical & financial matters, you are able to make informed decisions regarding your life. Professionals and consumers of Baltimore City are encouraged to attend.
This months workshop will include the following workshops:
Utilize Your “Tool Box” by Melynda Maynard: Situations in life cause us to experience different aspects of the vicious “symptom cycle”. Become familiar with the necessary self-management tools to better care for yourself and your loved ones.
“Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day” by Rona Martiyan: When a caregiver eats well, they feel better, move better and live a better life. “Food is for Life”…Food and nutrition tips for improving your quality of life.
It’s a Family Affair: Understanding and Working with Multi-Generational Families by Annette Saunders: Today’s family structures are reverting into multi-generational families. This session will focus on benefits and barriers of three common characteristics of multigenerational families and best practice models that promote partnerships that offer benefits for the elder and younger generations for the purpose of broadening the family’s circle of support and strengthening family and community involvement relationships.
Respite & Out-of-home Care options by Katie Cashman: Participants will learn the advantages of respite care as well as other care options that are available to assist them with caring for their loved ones.
