|We owe a tremendous debt to the men and women that have served our country through military service – especially in times of war. There are some excellent (but not well publicized) programs that help repay this debt with care for aging veterans and their spouses or widows. These programs are designed to maximize each Veteran#s functional independence and lessen the burden of disability on Veterans, their families, and caregivers. Veteran’s assistance programs help pay for the care of elderly and senior veterans. Learn about VA benefits that are available to help pay for the cost of care like the Aid & Attendance benefit that can help pay for long-term care such as home health care, assisted living or nursing home care and the Housebound Pension paid to Veterans who are substantially confined because of a permanent disability.
This session will be taught by Attorney Bill Fralin and Financial Advisor Toni Whaley. Bill founded The Estate Planning & Elder Law Firm, P.C. in 1994. He is also an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Bill is one of 20 attorneys practicing in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia certified in elder law (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation. He was named in 2004, 2007 & 2009 in Washingtonian magazine as one of the top elder law attorneys in the region. Also, he was named in 2007 Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top 100 attorneys in the Washington, DC region and was named in Virginia Business magazine as one of the top 50 attorneys in the state of Virginia. Mr. Fralin lectures frequently on topics relating to life care planning for seniors, elder law, asset protection and preservation and estate and incapacity planning. Toni Whaley is a partner in Paladin Advisor Group. As a financial planner and health and life insurance agent, Toni focuses on helping those who make it their mission to serve others, such as the aging Veteran population and their spouses. As a professional member of the American Association for Wartime Veterans, Toni provides education and advocacy that focuses on the VA Aid & Attendance pension. Toni is a topical speaker on issues such as personal financial fitness, becoming your own banker, VA benefits, legal services and personal responsibility. When helping others construct their financial life, Toni’s goal is to give them confidence that peace of mind within their reach.
