Just in time for Social Work licensure renewal in DC, Seabury Resources for Aging and The Methodist Home of DC will offer a 3.0 credit Category I CEU program on HIV and Aging. Join Dr. Susan Milstein as she presents on this important topic.
Program Summary: While HIV/AIDS has been affecting the world for over 30 years, many social works may not have had the opportunity to learn more than just the basic facts. This workshop will be broken down into two sections. The first section will provide social workers with an overview of HIV/AIDS, including the definitions of HIV and AIDS, how HIV progresses, the impact on one’s life after diagnosis, current treatment options and prevention methods. The second section will focus on the incidence and prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the DC Metro area, and how the disease if affecting people 50 years and older. This section will also discuss the role of social workers in working with patients and their families, and the impact of common myths on patients.
