Join us for this free Dementia Care Grand Rounds presentation. Dr. Allan Anderson, Medical Director of the Samuel and Alexia Bratton Memory Clinic at William Hill Manor, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will be discussing strategies for evaluation and management of pain in persons with moderate to severe dementia. At the end of this program, the learner will be able to:
1) Identify behaviors that might indicate that a patient with dementia is suffering from physical pain
2) Utilize scales to assess pain in the moderate to severe dementia patient
3) Describe a rational pharmacologic treatment approach to the management of pain in the dementia patient
4) Discuss various non-pharmacologic interventions to reduce pain and promote emotional well being in dementia patients
