Volunteers are needed to help seniors balance their checkbook, prepare checks for client signatures, ensure bills are paid on time and keep track of finances. Clients are often homebound, disabled, visually impaired or forgetful. Many have no family, relatives or friends to help them manage their finances. The service is free to clients who meet income eligibility guidelines.

Volunteers have the opportunity to be matched with a client and visit in their home once or twice a month to keep track of income and expenses. The time commitment is one year of service with an average of 6 hours per month.

The Senior Connection in partnership with the AARP Foundation’s Money Management Program works hard to make compatible matches between volunteers and clients. This is an opportunity to build a long-term relationship. Volunteers should have a solid knowledge of household budgeting and be patient, open, friendly and organized.

The AARP Foundation provides volunteers with travel, accident and liability coverage while performing their volunteer duties. They also maintain coverage to protect the funds of clients enrolled in the program.
